Measuring website usage
We use Google Analytics and WordPress.com Jetpack to collect information about how visitors use this site. We do this to make sure it is meeting user needs and to understand how we can make it better.
Google Analytics stores information about what pages you visit, how long you are on the site, together with several other topics. Google does not collect or store your personal information so this information cannot be used to identify who you are. We only allow Google to use or share anonymous analytics data.
WordPress.com Jetpack collects similar information and neither collects your personal information nor shares this data.
Some visitors like to share some of the information they find on social networking sites. A package called Easy Social Share Buttons for WordPress is installed on certain areas of the Leadership Thoughts website to enable this.
Membership and free resources
Access to some resources on Leadership Thoughts may require membership. Currently this service is provided free of charge. Should you register, we will collect basic information including user name and password.
We also use the WordPress.com Jetpack to manage subscriptions. This allows any visitor to subscribe to all of our posts via email through a widget in the blog’s sidebar. Every time we publish a post, WordPress.com will send a notification to all our subscribers.
Likewise, when leaving comments, our visitors can also subscribe to a post’s comments to keep up with the conversation.
Mailing list and newsletter
Until 5th March, 2016 we used Mailchimp to manage mailing lists and newsletter membership.
However, from 6th March, 2016 we have moved our mailing lists to a self-hosted solution at leadershipthoughts.email.
If you provide us with personal information including, but not limited to your name and email address or have done so in the past, via our websites, publications or surveys, we may use that information to send you updates on our latest services and promotions. We may also contact you occasionally so we can learn more about you and improve the services we offer.
By giving us your personal information you consent to us processing your personal information for the Data Collection Purposes.
You can choose to withdraw your consent or ‘opt out’ from permitting us to use your personal information for the Data Collection Purposes by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of our emails at any time.
We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter.
We take your privacy extremely seriously, and we neither sell lists or email addresses nor send unsolicited email.
All newsletter subscribers complete a double opt-in process and we will promptly remove you from our lists if requested.
